Give your fruit tree a good start
A good start makes all the difference. Choose a sunny spot for your fruit tree with enough room to grow. Ensure well-drained soil where excess water can easily drain away.
How to plant a fruit tree
- Dig a spacious planting hole
Make the planting hole wide enough so the roots have sufficient room. - Plant at the correct depth
Do not plant the tree deeper than it originally was in the pot or soil. For grafted fruit trees, the graft union remains above ground. - Backfill with soil
Refill the planting hole and gently tamp down the soil around the roots. - Give enough water
Water generously after planting. A young fruit tree also needs extra water during dry periods. - Provide support if needed
A young tree can be supported with a tree stake until it is firmly rooted.
